I originally started this blog when I was away with YWAM (Youth With A Mission)so I could update my supporters of what I was doing while away. I've always loved to write. I have folders filled with short stories that I wrote when I was little, countless journals filled with the deepest parts of my heart and many long descriptions under pictures I post on fb or instagram. It appears that blogging seems to be the "it" thing right now but it's one bandwagon I'm willing to jump on. Mostly because it's a way to communicate my heart through words and allow others to see them.
Since this is an about me section here are a few things that are indeed about me:
- I am a follower of Christ. No, I'm not perfect and screw up more times than I'd care to admit but somehow I always find myself wading in an ocean of grace. His grace.
- I love people. Being with people, talking to people, serving people. Yes, all of it. I am passionate about working with children. I'm learning that I'm also passionate about teaching children too not just being with them. It's an area that God has graciously gifted me in, I'm just trying to figure out how he best wants me to use that gift.
- I love sign language. I just started taking a class and have fallen in love with this language. It's truly beautiful.
- Serving overseas is ultimately a life goal I have. Whether it be short term for a couple of years off and on or long term. My heart longs to be in Africa, Liberia to be exact. I went on a trip there this summer and fell in love, consequently a very huge piece of my heart was left there, in the hands of some beautiful children. I also find myself talking about Africa and "my kids" a lot.
- I'm terrible with money. I'm working on it though, being a wise steward with it is something I find insanely difficult (although I can't seem to figure out why.)
- I'm adopted and God picked the best family for me to be with. I often forget that I was adopted and am so incredibly blessed by my parents and siblings. My little brother is the biggest blessing/gift I've ever been given. I would do anything for that kid.
I'm learning, and growing, and trusting, and trying, and living, and loving, and embracing all that life has given me. It's a journey but it's worth it.
